Before Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation

THESE INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED TO INSURE YOUR SURGERY CAN BE DONE AS PLANNED.
 
  • You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) after midnight the night before your appointment. Your stomach MUST be completely empty.
  • A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office and drive the patient home. It is also advisable to have someone stay with you following surgery to care for you and/or your small children.
  • Patients under 18 years MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.
  • Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing including a short-sleeved t-shirt.
  • Do not wear contact lenses, jewelry, lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery.
  • If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, fever, or upset stomach, please call the office. Your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
  • If you take routine oral medications, those can be taken with just a sip of water unless otherwise instructed by Dr. Perino or Dr. Funderburk.  Please call the office if you have any questions. 
  • Please try to refrain from smoking immediately before your appointment.
